Vision

Swahili Coast Mission's vision

Swahili Coast Mission is a ministry that was started by Linda and Stig Gisnaas as they set out to Kenya in 2016 to obey God in the calling He had given them for the Swahili Coast; the coast line from the south of Somalia, going through Kenya and Tanzania and until the north of Mozambique. They have started pioneering their ministry in Kilifi, north of Mombasa in Kenya.

As you can read about them under “Founders”, Linda’s main calling since she was a young girl was to help the poor and to be a mother for those that doesn’t have a mother, and living out 1 John 3: 16-18.

Having started from scratch with a minimum of supporters, the ministry has grown step by step as God has provided opportunities and finances. From a small rental house in town in 2019, to now a mission base in the bush with 28 acres land. With facilities to host more than 40 people, hosting conferences, doing tuition programs, literacy programs, and running a growing church.

Our focus

We want to bring change and relief to the massive problems of corruption, orphans, elderly care, lack of work opportunities, healthcare, poverty, lack of education etc. We believe that the message about Jesus Christ and the reality of His love, holds the power that can bring about transformation and reformation to individuals, families and even cities.

The main focus of our ministry is discipleship and friendships. To teach and show people how to follow Jesus in their unique and normal daily lives. How to raise their kids, how to build strong marriages, how to start a family, how to steward their money and resources, how to pray and build a relationship with the Holy Spirit, how to follow Him and trust Him through every thing that life throws at you.

We believe that revival doesn’t only look like mass crusades with people responding to the salvation prayer.

Revival is when one person wakes up, breaks up from following their culture and readjusts their lives to Jesus culture; following the Bible and changing the way they live their lives. Becoming a light in their family, community and nation, demonstrating a new way of living life. Healthy individuals builds healthy families that builds healthy communities that changes the world!

Church

This is why we strongly believe that our most important role as missionaries is to become mothers and fathers for our community; guiding, comforting, teaching and walking with them through life. Showing them the love of the Father, through compassion, friendship, relieving poverty and opening our arms and hearts to them. One of the ways we are doing this is through our church. You can read more about it on the page called Swahili Coast church.

Education

We believe education is a big key of relieving poverty, and we focus heavily on school sponsorship. Our school sponsorship program is mainly limited to our closest communities, as we believe it is important to not just help them get an education, but also mentor and guide them holistically to make sure they become responsible, resilient and mature young people that will help change their family and community. Mission base

Our vision is to build a strong, sustainable mission base and church here in our community in Nzombere, where we first and foremost build and equip our community holistically, in every way we can. Helping practically with bringing water and electricity to the village, fixing roads, arranging permaculture workshops, cooperating with the local leaders, and sponsoring students. Connecting with the youths through sports and community programs, and providing workplaces for as many people as possible, whilst also teaching them how to steward money and invest wisely.

We have recently bought 3,5 acres of land where we will build a trading center with shops, housing for local youths and a clinic. We will also in the future start a bible school for locals to further equip our local church. We also want to build an orphanage, school and much more as the Lord provides and leads.

Our vision is big, but for now we are focusing on building a strong foundation in the community where we live. Further down the road, as we raise up leaders from the youths that are growing up with us, the vision is to start a missionary base in each of the countries on the Swahili Coast, bringing change and revival by impacting the communities where we live.
